Antonina Mignano
September 18, 1942 – April 2, 2022
Antonina “Nina” Mignano, age 79 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.
Born September 18, 1942, in Partnico, Sicily. She was one of three children of the late Ignazio and Caterina Perna. Nina worked at a school in Sicily, as a professional seamstress.
Nina met and married the love of her life: Salvatore “Sam” Mignano on October 10, 1959, in Sicily. When she was 18, she came over the United States in 1960. They raised their family and spent over 65 wonderful years together.
Nina was a long-time member of St. Mike’s Catholic Church of Monroe. She also enjoyed sewing in her free time for her family. Most importantly, Nina adored her family-especially her grandchildren. They were her world to spoil and treasure. She was the head matriarch, the glue that kept everyone together. She’ll be remembered as the peacekeeper as well as a loving person to everyone she met. Nina will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
Beloved wife of Sam Mignano. Loving mother of Salvatore Mignano and Mario (Kim) Mignano. Dearest Nonna of Nicholas (Ariel) Jordan, Katie (Alex) Mulvaney, Caterina Mignano, Antonia Mignano, Amanda Mignano, and Sarah Mignano. Great Nonna of Logan Mulvaney, Miles Mulvaney, Julian Jordan, and Emmette Jordan. Dear sister of Maria (Gino) Cuccia.
In addition to her parents, Nina is preceded in death by children: Antonino Mignano and Antonina Lewis; and brother: Dominic Perna.
