Neil George Price
March 6, 1950 – June 8, 2024
Neil George Price was born March 6, 1950, the youngest of three brothers to his parents William and Martha Price in Wyandotte, Michigan. Martha passed away and his father later remarried Fern Oberlin-Smith, who then raised the boys as her own. She brought a daughter, Pat, who quickly became a sister to them. Pat married George Bentzel, and they had two children, Mike and Todd (Mary), who although nephews of Neil, Daryl (Kathy) and Dennis (Cathy), also became like brothers.
Growing up in Taylor, Michigan, Neil had many adventures with his brothers and their friends. He graduated from Kennedy High School in 1968 and went on to study history and political science at Eastern Michigan University, graduating with a bachelors in 1972. Neil was a devout husband and father, marrying Gail Guzowski in 1976. In 1979, his only daughter, Alison, was born who was his pride and joy.
Neil enjoyed watching the Detroit Lions and UofM football as well as computers. The small family of three often went exploring on day trips and visited St. Augustine, where Neil had vacationed since childhood. He also loved trips to Civil War battlefields with his brothers and their sons. Neil always tinkered with gadgets and technology, eventually earning a degree in computers from Wayne State University.
After working at Firestone for almost ten years, he became a Network Manager for Monroe County Intermediate School District. He retired from MISD in 2010 with his wife Gail. The two bought a lake house in Irish Hills, where they shared many memories with their daughter, her husband Marc Drougel and two grandchildren, Samantha and Jack. He enjoyed boating, working on his lawn and riding jet skis, as well as fishing.
Neil passed away on June 8, 2024, at the age of 74. His parents preceded his passing as did his sister Pat and brother Dennis. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind wife, daughter, son-in-law, two grandchildren, and brother Daryl. He also is survived by many family and friends, including nieces Kristie Reyes (Robbie) and Tara LeJune (Steve), and Jason Price (Chrissy).
Friends and family may gather on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S Custer Rd, Monroe, Michigan (734) 241-9300.
