Mary Jane Ruman, age 95, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Born September 19, 1929, in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late John and Madeline (Anteau) Ackerman. Mary Jane attended and graduated from Saint Mary Academy and went on to marry the love of her life, John Ruman, on October 11, 1947. Together they raised five children. Sadly, on November 15, 2020, after 73 years of marriage, John passed.

Mary Jane was a member of Saint Johns Catholic Church. For several years she worked as a Nurses Aide at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, however, her most prized accomplishment was raising her children. Her family was always the most important thing in her life, and she took great pride in each and every one of them. Her love was unconditional, and she welcomed everyone with open arms. If you had the pleasure of knowing her you could be sure that you would never go hungry.

In her spare time, Mary Jane enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking and traveling. She also loved attending her grandchildren’s activities. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Beloved mother of David (Janet) Ruman, Katherine Powers, Madeline Brodie and Dianne (Steven) Lile, grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 21.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Krueger, two brothers, John “Jack” and Robert “Bob” Ackerman and a sister Sr. Carolyn Ackerman.

In accordance with her wishes, services are private. She will be laid to rest, along with her husband, at a later date at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
