Mary Nancy Pigott
October 4, 1926 – April 27, 2026
Mary Nancy Pigott, age 99, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children at her daughter’s home in Kimball, Michigan, on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Born on October 4, 1926, in Monroe, Michigan, Mary was the daughter of Louis and Nancy (Virgona) Mattero. She attended St. Mary Academy, graduating with the class of 1945. Mary was united in marriage to James S. Pigott on June 21, 1958, at St. Michael Church. Sadly, he preceded her in death on June 26, 1980.
Mary was a dedicated and hardworking woman who began working at her father’s store, Mattero Grocery, as a young girl. Later, she worked in several positions at Citizens Bank in Toledo and spent many years in sales as she raised her family as a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and remained deeply involved in her faith and community throughout her life. Mary was the President of the SMCC Ladies Auxiliary. In honor of her dedication, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame for St. Mary Catholic Central. Mary was also a founding member of St. Mary Resurrection Choir.
She enjoyed working with the parents and teachers at St. Mary and Catholic Central especially supporting school events and helping raise funds for SMCC. Mary had a love for cooking, baking, traveling, and bringing people together. She was a proud Detroit Tigers fan and was known for her warm hospitality, strong work ethic, and devotion to her family.
Mary is survived by her beloved children: Brian Pigott of Monroe, Patrick Pigott of Canton, and Nancy Pigott of Kimball, Michigan. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Louis Mattero, and her sisters, Josephine Mattero and Gina Mattero.
The family would like to thank the McLaren Hospice of Port Huron for their kindness and care.
