Mary Ellen Moyer, born on November 20, 1941, in Raisinville Township, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 83, at ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital in Adrian, Michigan, after a brief illness.

Mary Ellen was the beloved daughter of the late Edward and Odessa (Gieman) Gilstorff. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Douglas Moyer; her brothers Earl, Larry, and William Gilstorff; and her sisters Ruth Ann Lands and Pearl Boik.

Mary Ellen dedicated much of her life to serving her community and her faith. For many years, she worked diligently as a Church Secretary at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, Michigan. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of both St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Her leadership and commitment were further demonstrated through her role as President of the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League.

Mary Ellen found joy and fulfillment in her many interests, particularly cooking, baking, and gardening. Her vegetable garden was a source of pride, and she took great pleasure in canning the vegetables she grew. Above all, Mary Ellen cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, nurturing a close and loving family.

She is survived by her children: Jeffrey (Alanna) Moyer of Sterling Heights, Dewight D. (Amanda) Moyer of Adrian, Nicholas (Becky) Moyer of Cass City, Mary Caroline Moyer of Tecumseh, and Patricia (Jason) Moyer-Fowler of Adrian. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Tyler (Courtney Grof) Moyer, Mary Jeanne Moyer, Caden Moyer, Madyson Fowler, Deighan Moyer, Carson Moyer, Emmery Moyer, and Allen Jeffrey Moyer.

Family, friends, and those whose lives Mary Ellen touched are invited to attend visitation on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, located at 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161. A celebration of her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, also at Rupp Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Herter, pastor of Hope Lutheran Church, Adrian, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, MI.

Mary Ellen Moyer will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and the love she shared generously with her family and community. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
