Mary Alice Eby-Wagner
September 18, 1944 - March 3, 2023
Mary grew up in Monroe County and was a resident of Peoria, AZ for the last sixteen years. She was the second of six children born to the union of Russell J. Eby and Alice B. Metz. She was born on September 18, 1944 in Monroe and died March 3, 2023 in Peoria. She attended Monroe Public Schools and started out in a one room school in LaSalle in 1949.
She is survived by two siblings, David L. (Vicki) Eby of LaSalle and Leah (Eby) Simms of Peoria, Arizona. She was married to Billy Wagner. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sisters Virginia (Ritchie) Radcliffe and Linda I. Eby and her older brother Ernest P. (Phyllis) Eby.
During her life she lived in Michigan, Tennessee, Florida and Arizona. She had a lifelong fondness for dogs. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to the Humane Society of Monroe County. A three-time cancer survivor, she had been in poor health for some time with numerous illnesses. Her sister Leah was her roommate for sixteen years and Mary’s devoted care giver for the last few years of her life. Mary died while under hospice care provided by Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix.
She was employed by numerous places during her life and travels.
Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and her remains will be buried next to her beloved sister Linda. A memorial service will be held later this summer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rupp’s Funeral Home.
