Marvin L. “Yogi” Bastien

January 11, 1937 – December 27, 2020

Marvin L. Bastien age 83, died peacefully Sunday,  December 27, 2020 in his daughter’s home.

Marvin was born on January 11, 1937 in Newport, MI from the union of Howard and Alta (Cousino) Bastien.

On October 28, 1958 he married the love of his life Thelma Baumia in Sullivan, Indiana. Yogi was employed as a die-cast operator with Ford Motor Company for over 33 years, retiring in 1992. At one time he was a FFL gun dealer and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to travel with his wife across the country, spending time at the cabin in Kalkaska which he helped his father build board by board, and spending time with his family. He also served in the Michigan National Guard.

Marvin is survived by his loving family, Debra Bastien, Wanda (Jeff Crockett) Warner, Michael (Chris Hamm) Bastien, Brian (Janet) Bastien, Kevin Bastien, Scott Bastien, Susan (Larry) Burkey; Siblings, Gary (Carol) Bastien, Rosanne (Neil) Runyon, and Joanne LeFevre; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Sadly he is preceded in death by his wife on December 12, 2020; parents; brothers, Roger, Ronald, and Howard; sister, Barbara Klatt; son, Tracy Bastien, grandchild, Richard Warthen, and great grandchild Sophia Bastien

Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2021 from 4:00PM-8:00PM at Rupp Funeral Home, Inc. where the funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00AM beginning with military honors from the VFW Post #1138 and Deacon Mike Stewart officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Due to COVID-19 a memorial luncheon will be held at a later date.
