Marlene Joyce Sutherland
August 30, 1936 – July 21, 2025
Marlene Joyce Sutherland passed away in her home on July 21, 2025.
Marlene, known to all as Joyce, was born in Monroe, Michigan, to Sam and Mildred (Stanifer) Cadle on August 30, 1936.
Attending Monroe High School , Joyce met the love of her life, Al . They were married June 30, 1956. She became a mother of two children and the proud grandmother (Gaummy) of six grandchildren.
Joyce and Al enjoyed traveling, including many trips to Vegas. She loved the casinos. There were also many visits to various casinos throughout Michigan. Her love of Mackinaw was another favorite, taking several trips with the family and grandchildren throughout the years.
Joyce appreciated a great bargain, from antiques to post-Christmas décor discounts. She loved her collection of Santa clauses, antique dishes, pitchers, and vintage recipe books. Christmas traditions were important to Joyce. Every holiday she gave each grandchild a Hallmark decoration of their choice. She also enjoyed watching things grow, especially the lavender she nurtured for years.
Her greatest joy came from her faith and spending time with her family, whether at holiday gatherings or camping up north. Joyce cherished so many happy memories with her grandkids. She loved being a grandma, a Gaummy.
