Marjorie G. “Midge” DeLong

Marjorie G. “Midge” DeLong, age 88, a lifelong resident of Monroe, passed away peacefully at 10:45 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Born September 8, 1936 in Monroe, she is the daughter of the late Arthur and Velma (Bonnough) Willing. She attended Monroe High School. Midge married David L. DeLong in Monroe on July 9, 1983. Sadly, he preceded her in death on April 10, 2006. She worked for Argus Camera from 1958 until moving to King Seely Corporation in 1956. In 1962, Midge began working for Ford Motor Company’s Rawsonville Plant, where she enjoyed thirty years of employment, retiring in 1992. She attended Zion Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. Midge was a proud member of U.A.W. Local 898.
She enjoyed spending time at her cabin up north, going to the casino, and especially spending time with her family. After her retirement, Midge rescued dogs, primarily of the Boxer breed.
To cherish her memory, Midge leaves one son, Michael (Ruth) Holt of Maybee; two daughters, Debra Harris of South Carolina, and Cynthia (Frank Radosevich) Hemry of Monroe; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and one of her beloved rescue Boxers, Rascal.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Clara Eberhart, in April of 1999.
Family and friends may visit from 12 noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161. Interment, as well as a graveside service, will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Monroe. Rev. Larry Detruf will officiate.
