Marilyn R. Carder

Marilyn Renee Carder, age 65 of Monroe, passed away the afternoon of Friday August 25, 2023 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Marilyn was born September 24, 1957 in Monroe, MI to the late Harlie and Dora (Hayter) Green. She attended Monroe High School, graduating in 1975. Marilyn would go on to meet and marry the love of her life, Steven A. Carder, on February 20, 1976 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe. She was a homemaker all her life, raising her and Steve’s children with love and care. Marilyn also worked at numerous firms tending to janitorial duties and was a caregiver for the elderly and the mentally challenged at the ARC of Monroe.
In her spare time, Marilyn loved to bowl, sing karaoke, dance, gamble at the casino, and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers. She would watch every game until the last pitch. Marilyn was also a dog lover and breeder; Presley, Preston, Mona, and Max were very dear to her. Everyone loved the sound of Marilyn’s voice, and she was asked to sing at many weddings.
To cherish her memory, Marilyn leaves her loving husband of 47 years, Steven A. Carder; son, Steven R. Carder; siblings: Darcy (Mac) Merrit and Jody (Richie) Van Horn; grandchildren: Alexys Clark-Carder, Barek Goins Jr., Jayden Carder, and Cassius Carder; and great grandchild, Patches Dorilyn Fields.
Along with her parents, Marilyn is also preceded in death by her daughter, Dori Carder; sisters, Doreen Marlow and Kimberly Drouillard; best friend and neighbor, Garry Baldwin; all her grandparents; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
Family and friends are welcome to gather from 12pm-2pm on Sunday September 24, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 2pm. Rev. Matthew Carder will officiate. In accordance with Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has occurred.
