Marie Faye (Johnson) Godfried

Marie Godfried of Trenton, formerly of LaSalle, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 21,2025.

Born August 25, 1934 in LaSalle, she was the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Knapiantik) Johnson. Marie graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1953. In March 1957, Marie married Leslie Godfried and together they raised 3 children. They enjoyed 68 wonderful years together before her passing.

Marie made her living as a school crossing guard in Trenton for 29 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her loving husband, Leslie, three daughters: Cindy Smelter, Jean Tracy and Jan Godfried. Grandchildren: Jennifer Payne, Michelle Fawcett, Nathan Lange and Tara Lange and great grandchildren: Brandon Pinter, Rose Payne, James Payne, Tyler Fawcett, Macie, Damion and Hardyn. Marie also leaves her beloved little dog, Mia.

Family may visit on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 10 am until 11 am with a funeral service beginning at 11 am with Rev. Larry Detruf officiating.  She will be laid to rest following the service at LaSalle Township Cemetery
