Marianne Minton Obituary

Marianne Minton
September 21, 1936 - August 23, 2021

Marianne Minton, age 84 of Monroe, passed away the evening of Monday August 23, 2021 at Vibrant Life Senior Living, Temperance.

Marianne was born September 21, 1936 in Monroe, MI to the late Richard and Catherine (Schmidt) Bentley. She earned her diploma upon graduation from St. Mary Academy, Monroe. She took various classes at Monroe County Community College. She married the love of her life, LaVerne Minton, on June 29, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church Rectory. They spent the next almost 53 years very happy and in love and raising their two daughters and spreading their love and compassion to everyone they met.

You could always find Marianne spending her time with her adoring friends and family whether it was hosting birthdays, holidays, weekly Sunday dinners, or regular Bridge clubs, if Marianne was with her family and friends, her heart was full. She was always ready to go on any adventure-craft shows, garage sales, strawberry picking, or driving to her cabin or even just a pickup game of casino or canasta. Everyone enjoyed her sense of humor. She always enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, caring for her houseplants, keeping a beautiful home, sewing, knitting, baking, and cooking. She was good at all she did but best at loving her family and keeping them all in line. She never missed football games, softball games, dance recitals, soccer games, basketball games or any special events at her children and grandchildren’s schools. She was proud of her family and loved sharing stories of all of their accomplishments.

She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church, Bowling Leagues, Card Clubs, and a proud member of her sorority. She was a dedicated Campfire Leader at St Mary’s School for many years. She enjoyed staying physically active by walking with her friends weekly, and walking her best pal Rizzo daily, rain or shine.

Marianne was a customer service representative and excelled at this like so many other things. She was employed at Consolidated Paper, in Monroe and retired from SFC Graphic Arts in Toledo. She was a very strong and dedicated professional woman.

To cherish her memory, Marianne leaves her two daughters, Lisa (David) Friend and Mary Beth; two brothers, Ron and Chuck Bentley; a sister, Beth Nied; and three grandchildren: Joel (Angie) Burkey, Katie Friend, and Betsy Friend and numerous nieces and nephews who all loved their Aunt Marianne.

Along with her parents and husband, Marianne is also preceded in death by her brother, Jim Bentley.

Family and friends may visit from 11am-6pm on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a service celebrating Marianne's life will be held at 6pm. Tom Treece will officiate. Entombment will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
