Margureite L. LeSage

Margureite L. LeSage, age 64, of Newport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at 1:16 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in her home.

Born December 22, 1959, in Monroe, she is the daughter of the late Velerian and Delores (Obenour) Bastien. Margurite attended Airport High School, graduating with the class of 1978. She married her soulmate, Donald H. LeSage on May 19,1978 in Rockwood, Michigan. Marguriete worked as a Bus Aide for the Monroe County Intermediate School District for thirty years, retiring in 2021.

Marguriete enjoyed dancing to Rock & Roll, (old)Country or anything with a good beat. She was a fantastic baker, often making wedding cakes for her family and friends. She and her husband recently took up kayaking and the two made several trips up north to enjoy the views of Michigan’s inland lakes. She loved taking trips with her family to her father’s property in northern Michigan.  Marguriete was a beautiful person, both inside and out. She will forever be remembered for her loving, caring, and giving personality.

To cherish her memory, Marguriete leaves her beloved husband, Donald, of Newport; two children, Melissa (James) Gordon of Newport and Justin (Stephanie) LeSage of Austin Texas; one brother, James (Rhonda) Bastien; two sisters, Darlene (Ronald) Hoffman and Carolyn Wiltshire; one brother-in-law, Dan Erb; and three grandchildren: Austin, Jacob, and Donald.

In addition to her parent’s Marguriete is preceded in death by one sister, Verna Erb.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends may visit from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161, where services celebrating her life will begin at 2 p.m.

Memorial contributions in Marguriete’s memory are suggested to the American Cancer Society or an organization of the donor’s choice.
