Luther Albert Bengelsdorf, 91 of Monroe, passed away at Wellspring Lutheran Home on August 12, 2024.
Born March 18,1933, in Petersburg, MI, Luther was one of six children born from the union of the late Charles and Dorothea “Dora” (Ziegler) Bengelsdorf.
He graduated from Monroe High School and earned his degree. Soon, he proudly joined the US Army and served his country. Later on in life, Luther held a job at Tecumseh Products, a manufacturing company. He was a Maintenance Technician for 40 years, and even earned an Employee of the Month Award.
He was a man devoted to faith. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church and was a part of their choir. Luther loved to sing and enjoyed being in the church’s choir. He also enjoyed dancing and was especially good at line-dancing. Listening to music was one of his favorite pastimes. In his free time, Luther loved skating; both ice skating and roller skating. Luther was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, too. He was described as a loving, happy man who had a big heart. He welcomed everyone with a smile and led with love.
Luther leaves behind his beloved sister, Dorothea “Dottie” Mulligan; and a Sister-In-Law, Laura Bengelsdorf.
He’s sadly preceded in death by his parents Charles and Dorothea; 3 brothers, Robert, Marvin, and Jim Bengelsdorf; and a sister Donna Menzel.
