Louis Hopkins, age 86, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

Born March 1,1935, in Monroe, Louis was the son of the late Jasper and Charlotte (Harris) Hopkins. He attended Monroe High School and later went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy. On February 8, 1955, Louis married Esther Lee Bowman and they spent 49 wonderful years together before her passing in 2004. He made his living as vice President of Webster – Duvall and as the President and owner of Lou Hopkins Lincoln Mercury for a total of 44 years.

Louis was a member of the Matt Urban American Legion and Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Swan Boat Club which was started by his father, the Monroe Golf and Country Club and the Moose Lodge #884. He served as secretary treasurer of Hopkins Ship to Shore Club and the Eastside Business Men's Association. Louis was the past President of the Monroe Lions Club. He was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

To cherish his memory, Louis leaves a son, Daniel L, (Wanda) Hopkins of Whittemore, MI.; a daughter, Emma L. (Mark) Marchese of Hillsdale, MI; three grandchildren: Jennifer Cunningham, Tabitha Marchese and Erikk Marchese, eight great grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

Louis is preceded in death by his wife, Esther Hopkins, his son, Jasper E. Hopkins, his parents, and a grandson, Keith Ellison II.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at Rupp Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2021, beginning at 11:00 am with Pastor Dennis Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
