Lila "Gram" A. Murphy
March 26, 1928-April 25, 2021
Lila "Gram" A. Murphy, age 93 of Monroe, passed away the morning of Sunday April 25, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Gram was born March 26, 1928 in Monroe, MI as one of two children from the union of the late Walter and Edna (Akens) Weier. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Murphy, on July 5, 1947 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe. Sadly, Kenneth passed away on January 12, 1978. Gram did not re-marry. Instead, she focused all of her energy and attention on being a life long homemaker, raising her family and becoming the matriarch of the Murphy clan. This is how she would earn the honor of being called, "Gram."
When she wasn't tending to her family or home, Gram enjoyed crafting works of art from ceramic. She also could be found gardening and tending to her yard. Above all else, Gram loved spending time with her family and friends.
To cherish her memory, Gram leaves two sons: Russell and Bob (Leslie) Murphy; three daughters: Kathy (Bob) DeLisle, Bonnie (Chuck) McKenzie, and Dale (Tom) Dunsmore; ten grandchildren: Amy, Paul, Thomas, Lisa, Jamie, Scott, Todd, Stephanie, Brandon, and Holly; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Gram is also predeceased by her brother, Russell Weier.
In accordance with family wishes and concern for the ongoing global pandemic, all services for Gram will be private. Livestream available by clicking here at 10:30AM on Tuesday April 27, 2021. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
