Lila Mae Otter
February 6, 1929 – January 4, 2021
Lila M. Otter, 91 of Monroe, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe.
Born February 6, 1929 in Monroe, she was one of three daughters of Earl and Lydia (Hoffman) Boehm. Lila attended Trinity Lutheran School, where she was baptized and confirmed and graduated from Monroe High School in 1946. She met the love of her life. Peter J. Otter, later marrying him on May 20, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Sadly, Peter preceded her in death on December 31, 2008.
Lila was a member of the Ladies Aid and honored for fifty years of her service. She taught Sunday School at Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteered for over sixty years at Mercy Memorial Hospital Guild and Mother’s Club. She was a lifetime member of the Frenchtown Senior Citizen Center, serving on the advisory board for ten years.
In her spare time, Lila enjoyed golfing in the Dundee morning Ladies league and bowling. She also enjoyed going to the casino.
Lila is survived by her son, Ross (Pamela) Otter of Monroe; three grandchildren, Shannon (Brian) Tam, Shawn (Stephanie) Otter, and Ryan (Elizabeth) Otter; three great grandchildren, Samuel and Alexander Otter, and Bailey Tam; three nieces, Dianne (Geary) Goodman, Cheryl Burghardt, and Jan Eshenroder; three nephews, Jay (Barb) Eshenroder, Randy (Janet) Eshenroder, and Don (Nancy) Eshenroder; great nieces and nephews, Julie, Ann, Celina, Lisa, Lydia, Rodney, Huntley, Dustin, and Brett.
Besides her husband and parents, Lila is preceded in death by her two sisters, Bernice Burghardt and Irma Eshenroder-Deinzer, and nephew, Mark Eshenroder.
Lila will lie instate Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 9:30 am till 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Private burial will take place after the service at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Lila are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe or Wellspring Lutheran Services of Monroe.
