LeVern Robinson walked into the arms of Jesus on February 10, 2026, following a short illness. He was surrounded by his family when he passed. Born in Jackson, Michigan on March 9, 1949, he was the son of Robert and Dorothea (Siefka) Robinson. He was a 1967 graduate of Monroe High School. He graduated from Monroe County Community College, where he served as the first Vice President of Student Council. He later served on the Alumni Board. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Educational Psychology from Eastern Michigan University.
He had a heart for helping young people and his career reflected this. He began his career as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Monroe County and would go on to serve the State of Michigan for 38 years in the Department of Health and Human Services. Through his various roles within the department, he worked with some of the most vulnerable children. He provided support and advocacy for children in foster care and their families, focusing on safety and well-being, with the ultimate goal of helping every child reach their full potential.
On October 5, 1974, he married his beloved wife, Cindy Russell. Together, they raised 4 wonderful children, of whom he was extremely proud. LeVern loved being a father, never missing a concert, sporting event, or stage production in which his children participated. He also cherished his role as Papa, when the addition of grandchildren gave him the opportunity to share more love. He found much joy in traveling often to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of Michigan and enjoyed being outdoors. Many of his evenings were spent watching nature and sunsets in his backyard. LeVern was active all his life; he started playing tennis in school and would later take up golf. He expressed his creative side through woodworking, taking on major projects in every home he lived in, as well as the homes of his children.
An active and founding member of Redeemer Fellowship Church, LeVern’s faith guided his life. He moved through the world with a unique warmth and kindness that was unmistakable to those around him.
LeVern lived life to the fullest while enjoying simple pleasures; a cup of strong, black coffee, a warm piece of bread dipped in perfectly seasoned olive oil, or a beautifully grilled steak. Always well dressed, he opted for tailored pants over jeans any time he left the house. A curious, creative dreamer, LeVern was an inherent optimist, always looking forward with the belief that his best days were ahead of him.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, and his children: Brandon, Trevor, Breana Robinson-Travers (Nick), and Derek (Erica Heidinger) and his grandchildren: Julian and Rhodes Robinson Travers and Aurelia Eleanor Robinson. He is also survived by his brother Bill, sister Kathy Mikell, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard, infant son Justin, and mother-in-law Eleanor Russell.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Redeemer Fellowship Church, 5305 Evergreen Dr., Monroe, MI 48161. The service celebrating his life will begin at 3:00 pm.
