Kermitt R. Heck
July 13, 1936 – July 22, 2021
Kermitt Ralston Heck, age 85 of Monroe, passed away on a beautiful summer’s day on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the Ebeid Hospice facility of Ohio. On this day we lost an amazing husband, father, Pa, brother, and dear friend to many.
Born on July 13, 1936, in Speedwell, Tennessee. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener, Kermitt spent more of his life outdoors than in. The countless days on his boat fishing for walleye in Lake Erie were some of his happiest. As a long-time member, and past president of The Rod and Gun Club, Kermitt was an excellent shot and spent many years shooting trap at the club and tournaments across the Midwest.
Right out of high school, his sense of adventure led him to the United States Air Force, where he served until 1955.
Following his career as a machinist at Ford’s, he and his wife developed a passion for antiques and built an impressive collection, showcased around the country at auctions, charity events, and even on their own front lawn.
He and his wife, Delois, were married for 63 years, and were the best friends, business partners, and soul mates anyone could ever ask for.
Kind, bright, and whimsical, everyone who knew Kermitt knew him as a good friend and a great man.
Kermitt’s legacy is his love for his family. Beloved husband of Delois Heck. Loving father of Dennis (Patty) Heck and Michelle Reed. Dearest grandfather of Aaron Heck, Kellyn Heck, Gabe Heck, Corey Heck, Garrett Reed, Hannah Reed, Morgan Nagel, and Mackenzie Heck. Great grandfather of four great grandchildren. Dear brother of JB Heck and Arweida Evans.
In addition to his parents, Kermitt was preceded in death by his sons: Terry K. Heck and Douglas Heck, and brother: Dorwood Heck.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Everyone is invited to a memorial gathering on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Rupp Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. A memorial service will take place at the end of the gathering at 5:00 pm. Officiating is Rev. Larry Detruf. Burial of cremains will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Kermitt is suggested to the Alzheimers Association or Ebeid Hospice of Ohio.
