Kay Price Obituary

Kay Beth Price

April 25, 1944 – February 16, 2025

“When I die, don’t forget to get my gold teeth!”

Kay Beth Price, of Monroe, departed from this life on Sunday, February 16, 2025. If you had the privilege of knowing her then this obituary is for you. Born to “Bud” (Myron) and “Sis” (Helen) Romine, Kay was the quintessential middle child. She spent her younger years stirring up mischief with her siblings and close friends. Memories that she would fondly share with a gleam in her eye and smirky smile, as if to say she held personal secrets that only those that were part of the story would know.

She spent her adult years with the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Price. They loved each other fiercely, imperfectly perfectly, and built a beautiful life together that resulted in three wonderful children: Tammy Clark, Ronnie (Samantha) Price and Donald Price.

Many gatherings were enjoyed in her home and backyard with all those she loved and cherished. Whether you spent time for a short visit or an extended stay, she would love on you with a helping hand and her genuine kindness. She wore her titles of mom, grandma, Aunt Kay and Gigi like a shining gold star and always concerned herself with the needs of others.

She brought comedic relief by recapping her daily stories about computer trouble, phone difficulties and basic day to day events. From finding a remote control in her purse to her wrong turn mishaps, she always found a way to laugh at herself or the situation she found herself in and how she got out of it.

A true euchre hustler, she would ask “what’s trump,” every trick at least 5 times and had us all believing it was her old age; however, the joke was on us, as she would normally win the game.

She found happiness in a clean home, family, the occasional jackpot, and in the end, more importantly her faith. She grew closer in relationship with the Lord by witnessing and being led by example by her beautiful daughter-in-law, Carmen, who went to be with the Lord last May.

A treasured gift to her family was finding her morning and nightly prayer by her bedside where she spent time with her Lord and Savior each day.

It is difficult to relay enough words as to who she was and what she meant to each and everyone of us, but there is no doubt a void has been created. A void that represents the beauty of a life where she loved and that she was genuinely loved back.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Price; parents, Myron “Bud” and Helen “Sis” Romine; mother and father-in-law, Stella Henning and Arthur “Art” Price Senior; daughter-in-law, Carmen Price; and grandson, Aaron Price.

She leaves behind her children: Tammy Clark, Ronnie (Samantha) Price, and Donald Price; sister, Jill Kettinger; brother, Michael “Mick” Romine; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

We see you finally got your jackpot in the treasures promised by your maker, so don’t worry, we got your gold teeth. We will see you soon, but until then, we will be wondering – what’s trump?

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and she will be inurned next to her husband at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, at a later date. Rupp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial contributions in Kay’s memory are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences to the family may be sent by visiting www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com.
