Katherine Marie (Katie) Eckert, age 83 of Monroe, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital with her family by her side.

Born August 1, 1941 in Monroe, Michigan, she was one of five children born to the late Donald Kettinger and Dorothy (Babcock) Kettinger. On August 15, 1959, Katie married Richard Moyer, and they were blessed with a daughter and a son.

Katie was employed by Howard Ternes Packaging for fourteen and half years, then Epic Components for four and half years until her retirement in 2001.

She enjoyed camping, watching NASCAR and the game show “Common Knowledge”, bingo, trips to the casino with her daughter, and spending time with each of her granddaughters.

Her passing was preceded by her parents; ex-husband, Richard, whom they remained friends; and two brothers, Ronald and Gary Kettinger.

To cherish her memory, Katie leaves two children, Donelda Kinne, (with whom she made her home) , and Donald Moyer; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Brad) Wagner, Lydia Moyer, and Jessica Hutson; two great-grandsons, Braiden and Bryson Wagner; two siblings Jerry Kettinger of Big Bear Lake, California and Jeanann (Victor) Nagy of Minden, Nevada; sister-in-law, Kris Kettinger of Wyandotte, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 1 to 4pm at Rupp Funeral Home. In accordance with Katie’s wishes cremation has taken place.
