May 28, 1962 – March 23, 2023

 

Julia Elizabeth Wood, age 60 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at her home under hospice care.

 

Born May 28, 1962, in Monroe, Michigan. Julia was the daughter of the late William and Mary (Abston) Holloway. Julia went to Atlanta and Monroe High School and graduated in 1980. She later continued her education in New York and California.

 

Julia got married in and raised one daughter. In 1980, she proudly enlisted into the United States Army, where she was stationed in Korea until her departure in 1986. She was an 32D Station Technical Controller.

 

Julia was a member of the Church of Religious Science in Redondo Beach in California. She was a world traveler and lived in places like Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Although she always made Monroe her home base. In her free time, she enjoyed doing anything creative like painting, making crafts, and was a seamstress.

 

Julia had a love for children and was always a positive person. She was outgoing to everyone she met and she will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

 

Beloved mother of Grace (Nik Pinchoff) Wood of Monroe. Loving sister of Joyce (Raymond) Holloway Messmore of Flat Rock and John Andrew Holloway of Monroe. Dear aunt of Jenni Holloway, Joseph, Andrew, and Christine De Sloover. Also survived by childhood best friend: Carolyn Bleech.

 

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by brother: William Holloway Kiser.

 

In accordance with her wishes, she wanted to donate her body to the University of Michigan Medical School Program for anatomical donation research. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rupp Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to www.ruppfuneralhomeinc.com
