Joy L. Ballantyne
May 27, 1959 – March 17, 2026
Joy Lynn Ballantyne, age 66 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Toledo.
Born May 27, 1959, in Monroe. Joy was the daughter of the late Estel and Joyce (Curley) McNew. She was a 1977 graduate of Monroe High School.
Joy met and married the love of her life, Thomas “Scottie” Ballantyne. Together they raised their family and spent many years together before he sadly passed away. Joy worked at Meijer in Monroe for 10 years before she retired. She loved being a social butterfly and in her free time enjoyed playing Bingo or doing puzzles.
To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her children, Rebecca Cook, Thomas Hindbaugh, Michael Hindbaugh, and Anne Ballantyne; many grandchildren; and siblings, Marcia Ashley, Scott (Ardith) McNew, and Dave (Kristina) McNew.
In addition to her parents, Joy was preceded in death by husband, Thomas “Scottie”.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 until 5 pm. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will follow services.
