Joseph James Giarmo, Jr.
December 30, 1962 – July 16, 2021
Joseph J. Giarmo, Jr. age 58, passed away peacefully on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with his loving wife, Kim, and family by his side at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital. For the past 16 months Joe was the ultimate warrior with the battle of cancer.
Born December 30, 1962 in Monroe, MI, he was the son of Joseph and Rosemary (Eby) Giarmo. He married Kimberly Currie on June 17, 2006. Together they spent the best years of their lives traveling, hiking, and spending time with their grandchildren. A very kind-hearted man who praised his Lord and Savior daily.
Joe was a 1981 graduate of Monroe High School and also received his Associates Degree from Marygrove College, Detroit MI. Joe was employed with Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital as a Cardio Vascular Technician until taking a medical retirement in March 2020. He loved hunting, fishing, and many were surprised to know that he competed in the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).
Joe is survived by his wife Kim; children, Joseph (Kelly) III of Charlotte, NC, Krysta Telycenas of Erie, MI, Tyler (Danielle) Reeves, of Monroe, MI and Sara (Matt) Lewandowski of Monroe, MI; brothers, Frank (Barb) Giarmo, Chris (Sarah) Giarmo, Nicholas (Teresa) Giarmo; sisters Lisa Giarmo, Bobbi Sue Giarmo, Beth Giarmo and Joni (Rob) Newton; many nieces and nephews and his very special grandchildren.
Sadly, Joe is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Friends may visit on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 3:00-8:00PM at the Rupp Funeral Home where a Rosary Service will be led by his brother Frank Giarmo at 7:00PM. He will lie instate on Thursday at 10:00AM at St. Michael Church where a Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
