Joseph Drouillard Obituary

Joseph A. Drouillard

November 4, 1959 – June 29, 2024

Joseph Alan Drouillard, age 64 of Monroe, passed away at 4: 46 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, in his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Born November 4, 1959, in Monroe, he is the son of the late Kenneth Drouillard and Mary Lou (Jevince) Bastien. Joe attended Monroe High School. He worked for Ford Motor Company, Monroe Plant, for thirty years, retiring in 2008. Joe married his ten-year companion, Shari Weiler, on July 16, 2022, at their home.

Joe was a beloved family man with an incredible zest for life. He loved spending time in the kitchen, often bringing the family together with his delicious meals. He was a skilled mechanic who knew just about everything when it came to cars and enjoyed sharing that knowledge. His grandbabies were the light of his life, and he truly cherished every moment spent with them. An avid fisherman, he loved casting a line and enjoyed the serenity and a story or two shared by the water. He loved trips up north and walks through sterling state park where he found peace in nature’s beauty. Known as a talker, he could strike up a conversation with anyone sharing a memory and a good laugh. His warmth and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was a member of U.A.W. Local 723 and West Ida Immanuel Lutheran Church.

To cherish his memory, Joe leaves his wife Shari Drouillard of Monroe; two children, from his first marriage; Makayla J. Drouillard of Canton and Joseph H. Drouillard of Monroe; three stepchildren: Eric (Laurie) Weiler, Tammy Weddle, and Jeremiah Francis; two brothers, Steve (Cindy) Drouillard of Mio, MI and Jim (Rhonda) Drouillard of LaSalle; two sisters, Laura Bellestri of Monroe and Sharon (Greg) Freeman of Carleton; stepbrother Alex Bastein of Monroe; four stepsisters: Lynette Curtis of Bay Minette, AL, Kathy Maedel of Monroe, Jill (Paul) Elliot of Monroe, and Julie Shotwell of Monroe; seven grandchildren: Kameron, Kashdyn, Kimarii, Reigyn, Ana, Jonah and Londynn; ten step grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren with one on the way.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Jason Weiler; one brother, David Drouillard;  two stepbrothers, John Bastein, Paul Bastien; and former spouse Kimberly Green.
