Joseph S. Bellestri

February 20, 1948 – August 31, 2024

Joseph Sebastiano Bellestri, age 76 of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe with family by his side.

Born February 20, 1948 in Monroe. Joe was one of three children of the late Santo and Nola (Sheehan) Bellestri. Joe graduated from St. Mary Catholic Central in 1966, where he was a star varsity football player. He then continued his education at a technical school where he received his associates degree in Diesel Engineering.

Joe owned and operated his business called Joe’s Diesel Repair in Toledo, for about 10 years before retiring.  Joe was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. He used to even teach catechism at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Temperance.

In his free time, Joe enjoyed watching old black and white classic movies. He also loved to root for the Detroit Lions and Tigers Teams whenever there was a game on. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Beloved father of Sebastian Bellestri, Joseph (Melissa) Bellestri Jr., Geneva Kapp, Alton Bellestri, and Mark Bellestri. Loving grandfather of Joseph Charles Bellestri, Joshua Bellestri, Jacob Bellestri, Emma Kapp, Abigial Kapp, Jenna Kapp, Markus Bellestri, and Bailey Bellestri. Great grandfather of Weston, Wyland, and Waverly Bellestri. Dear brother of Josephine Snavely and Olivia Bender.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by son: Santo Bellestri; and niece: Kristy Mexicotte.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home at 11 am. Officiating is Fr. Michael Anagbogu. Burial will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery.
