John William Price, age 93 of Newport, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

Born October 26, 1927 in Wyandotte, MI. He was one of two children of the late William and Amanda (Bobb) Price. John graduated from Wyandotte's Roosevelt High School in 1947. He later continued his education at Wayne State University.

John met the love of his life: Donna Arsenault. They got married in 1948. They raised a family of four children and spent over 68 wonderful years together before Donna's passing in 2016. Together they liked to travel from the east to the west coast visiting many friends and family members who lived out of state.

John worked for Ford Motor Company. He worked at the Dearborn Research and Engineering Center as a Body Design Engineer for 28 years before retiring. John then started up Price’s Orchard, opening the family business in 1985. At one time they grew apples, peaches, cherries and of course their homemade cider. He enjoyed working with his family and doing what he loved. Today, his daughters carry on the family business located at his home in Newport.

In John’s younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, and even built steam boats. Later in life he enjoyed being on his farm, working at home on the orchard, and taking care of his horses. Most importantly, he will be remembered for his wit and personality as well as being a devoted family man.

Beloved father of Linda (Steve) Veresh, John (Loraine) Price, Rebecca (Joseph) Barron, and Keith (Deana) Price. Loving grandfather of Dale Metzger, Jessica Adkins, Hannah Parker, John Price, Megan Edwards, Elizabeth Price, Jeremy Barron, Sarah Paullus, Erin Magnuson, and Jacob Price. Great-grandfather of 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife: Donna Price, and sister: Janet McNamee.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the end of viewing starting at 1:00 pm. Officiating are his sons: Rev. John Price and Keith Price. Burial will follow to St. Charles Cemetery in Newport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John’s honor are suggested to St. Charles Catholic School of Newport, since John stressed the importance of education.
