John L. Johnson, Jr, age 67 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly the evening of Monday October 16, 2023 in his home.

John was born August 9, 1956 in to the late John L. Johnson, Sr. and Helen (Tyra) Johnson. He attended Monroe High School before joining the work force. Throughout the years, John worked at Braden Service Station, Modern Packaging, TA, and Ford Motor Company in Milan. John married Bonnie S. McKenzie and from this union came two children. In his spare time, John enjoyed watching wrestling on TV, spending time with family and friends, and his dog, PJ.

Family and friends may visit from 2-8pm on Sunday October 22, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Monday October 23, 2023. Rev. Larry Detruf will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

To cherish his memory, John leaves his long-time partner, Linda Brown; son, David G. (Elaine) McKenzie; daughter, Angela McKenzie; two sisters, Grace (Jack) Richter and Ruth Johnson; three grandchildren: John L., Mariah M., and Larry McKenzie; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Along with his parents, John is preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald “Jughead” and Michael Ray Johnson; and two sisters, Brenda Smith and Linda Russeau.
