June 27, 1933 - October 24, 2021

Joanne Katherine Cooper, age 88 of Monroe, passed away the evening of Sunday, October 24, 2021 at ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.

Born June 27, 1933 in Detroit. She was the only child of the late Edwin and Viola (Kessel) Churchill. After graduating Slocum-Truax High School, she met the love of her life: Robert Lee Cooper. They got married on July 11, 1953 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockwood. Sadly, he passed away in 1957. Joanne was a loving homemaker to her husband and their three children growing up. After her children were grown, she went to work at Monroe Auto Equipment now known as Tenneco Inc. She was their accounts payable clerk for about 20 years before retiring.

Joanne was a long time member at St. Mary Catholic Church. Joanne spent a lot of her time volunteering and in many ways acted like it was her job. Joanne helped out at the God Works Family Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the ProMedica Regional Hospital Guild for many years, clocking over 20,000 hours total. Joanne was also a apart of the River Raisin Centre for the Arts Guild.

In her free time, she enjoyed playing the slots at the casino. From 1996 to 2002, she made the trek over the Mackinac Bridge for their Labor Day opening. Most importantly, she loved spending her time with family. Joanne will be greatly missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved mother of Thomas (Evelyn) Cooper and Paul (Teresa) Cooper. Loving grandmother of Tammy Hartung, Michelle (Deric Hines) Hartung, Jeremy (Andrea) Cooper, Joseph (Beth) Cooper, Kimberly Tetuan, and Kristen (Rob) Jackson. Great grandmother of Lucas Hartung, Tracey Cooper, Autumn Cooper, Lindsay Cooper, Liam Cooper and Ella Jackson.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Lee Cooper; daughter: Patricia Susan Tetuan; and grandson: James Robert Cooper.
