Joann Kay West, 80, of Monroe, died Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Seacrest Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Monroe.

Born November 26, 1942, in Pioneer, Ohio, she was the daughter of Monte "Doc" and Janet (Galbraith) West. Her father died when she was 12 months old, and she was raised by her mother and stepfather Wayne Tressler on a farm in Ransom, MI. The family moved to Monroe in 1960.

She was a 1962 graduate of Monroe High School and worked for many years in the kitchens at the Deacon Jones Restaurant and the Monroe Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed family gatherings, watching "Big Time Wrestling" on TV, and babysitting her many nieces and nephews.  

She is survived by her sister Virginia (Tressler) Huggins of Monroe, sisters-in-law Lottie Tressler of Monroe, Bonnie Tressler of Defiance, OH, and Christine Tressler of Jonesville, MI, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Marjorie (West) Cramer, Alfred O. West, Hazel Jane (West) Tomlinson, Janette (West) Schildknecht, Verda Ann West, Jacka Kieth West, Larry W. Tressler, Dale E. Tressler, and Calvin L. Tressler.

Private services were held at the Rupp Funeral Home, and burial took place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI. Memorials may be made in her name to the Zion Lutheran School of Monroe, MI.
