Joan Rugila Obituary

Joan Rugila was born in Monroe Michigan on August 20, 1930. She was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Cybil) Urbanick. She graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy, Class of 1947.

Joan met the love of her life George Rugila and they were married on October 23, 1948. Joan and George made their home on the family farm in South Rockwood. From this union, they were blessed with three children, Susan, George, and Charles. Joan was a loving mother, homemaker and a substitute teacher. She also ran the family business George’s Market.

Joan was a volunteer for the Mercy Memorial Hospital gift shop. She was a member of St. Charles Church, Frenchtown, Berlin, and Ash Townships Senior Citizens. She loved playing Euchre and spending time visiting with her friends.

Joan played golf with George and belonged to a ladies league. Joan enjoyed vacationing with her husband and a group of their close friends. But most of all she wanted to be around family.

Joan passed away peacefully on Saturday evening October 19, 2024, at the Well Spring Lutheran
