Jerry Woelmer Obituary

Jerry S. Woelmer

November 12, 1942 – November 20, 2021

Jerry Stephen Woelmer, 79 of Carleton, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

Born November 12, 1942, in Ann Arbor, he was the son of Neil Miller and Mary Ellen Brewer. His father passed away when Jerry was just a newborn, but was adopted by William Woelmer, who married his mother, Mary Ellen. Jerry married Charlotte Kohler on November 24, 1965, in Monroe. He passed away just a few days before they would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

Jerry started at Cooks Sportland in 1971, eventually became co-owner and was the local gunologist.  After selling the business he continued to work there as the office manager up until his passing. He was also the assistant varsity softball coach for Monroe High School from 1995 to 2011. For several years, Jerry was the Trojan Man mascot for the Monroe High School football games. He was involved in Civil War reenactments for the 7th Cavalry. Jerry was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and National Rifle Association.

He was a very hardworking man, who always had to be on the move. Jerry’s kind, funny, and witty personality will be missed by all that knew him. He loved spending as much time as he could with his family.

Jerry leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte; three daughter, Lori Woelmer, Teri (Mike) Scznsny, and Kristi (Ron) Langenderfer; and four grandchildren, Emma, Drew, Jake, and Max.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Ellen Brewer, and his natural father, Neil Miller.
