Jeneese married the love of her life, Samuel Vereb, on October 10, 1953 at St. Michael the Archangel Church of Monroe. They went on to spend 65 wonderful years together before Samuel’s passing in 2019.

Born February 11, 1932 in Monroe to the late Frederick and Wilhemina (Nied) Leckler. She attended grade school at St. Michael’s School. In 1949, Jeneese graduated from Monroe High School. After graduating, Jeneese worked at the Monroe Credit Bureau. She went on to work at Peoples Federal Savings and Loan as an executive secretary. Jeneese was a teacher’s assistant at Monroe Public Schools and retired in 1992 after 15 years of service.

Jeneese was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and was a part of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Monroe Women’s Center, Sawyer Homestead and the Monroe Senior Citizens Center. In her spare time, Jeneese enjoyed traveling, gambling, playing cards, watching the Detroit Tigers, golfing with her husband on Saturday nights, and bowling. One of her greatest passions was shopping and staying up to date on fashion trends. Jeneese was known for being a beautiful seamstress. She made all her girl’s dance costumes. She loved hot air ballooning with her son. She never missed her children’s or grandchildren’s sporting events. Most importantly, Jeneese loved spending time with her family and friends.

To cherish her memory, Jeneese leaves three children: Diane (Randy) Harris of Monroe, Mary Ann (Donald deceased) Doty of Monroe, and Frederick (Missy) Vereb of Tampa, FL; ten grandchildren: George (Hillary) Harris, Charlie (Stephanie) Harris, Molly (Rob) Mize, Philip (Meghan) Watt, Samuel Doty, Cylas Doty, Michelle, Michael, Micayla, and Marissa Vereb; great-grandchildren: Wolfgang and Oriana Harris, Blake Shipe, Walker Mize, and Baby Mize who is expected in August 2021; and one brother, Courtney (Marilyn deceased) Leckler of Redlands, CA.
