Jean Loveland Obituary

Jean Marie Loveland

July 11, 1939 – June 3, 2025

Jean Marie Loveland, age 85 of Sevierville, formerly of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Born July 11, 1939, in Taylor Township, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late William and Kathryn Johnston. Jean attended Airport High School. In 1963, Jean met the love of her life, Donald Loveland. They were married on January 29, 1966, in Monroe, and enjoyed over 59 wonderful years together. Together, they enjoyed fishing and traveling all over the US in their RV. Favorite all-time trips included many bluegrass festivals with their fur baby, Mugzy.

Over the years, they made many bluegrass friends who are now lovingly referred to as bluegrass family. Jean, who was a lifetime member of the Brest Bay Sportsmen Gun Club, enjoyed trap shooting, playing cards, and Tuesday Night Darts. She was also the first president of the Ladies Auxiliary in the 1960s, and then again 50 years later. The friendships made here were those that lasted a lifetime. Jean was also a member of Women of the Moose.

Jean liked to go to the casino, and she loved singing Patsy Cline songs. She will be remembered for her amazing voice and harmonizing around the "pickin' parties." Jean was truly the life of the party. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Beloved wife of Donald Loveland. Loving mother of Donnel (Jim) Cote, Kathryn Shinavier, and Chris (Evelyn) Weatherholt. Dearest grandmother of Brian Weatherholt, Jessica Shinavier, Sami Weatherholt, Rhett Weatherholt, Ally Weatherholt, and Trever Cote. Great-grandmother of Landon Cote, Carson Dennis, Blake Dennis, Colton Dennis, and Samira Jiddou. Dear sister of James (Janice) Johnston and Terry Scott. And aunt to many special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by sister, Janet Duffy, and brothers-in-law, Jim Duffy and Kenny Scott.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home starting at 11 am. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will conclude services.
