Janet Marie Winkleman

Janet Winkleman, 63 of Monroe, Michigan, passed away surrounded by love on September 14, 2023.

She was born February 12, 1960, to Gerald and Ruth (Yeack) Gedert in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Start High School in 1978. Later, she earned an accounting degree from Monroe County Community College.

In April 1992, Janet married the love of her life, Thomas Winkleman, and they spent the next three decades living their lives to the fullest by traveling the United States, camping at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon, and dressing up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus during the holiday season. Janet was a driven and successful businesswoman who worked her way up from Avon sales representative to district sales manager, earning many awards and accolades. She also worked as a bookkeeper for Pipe and Equipment for many years. Janet was a breast cancer survivor.

Janet was very close to her family, and treated her stepchildren, nieces, and nephews as if they were all her own. The Many people who love Janet will fondly remember her altruism, generosity, love of Christmas, and shopping addiction. Janet already purchased and wrapped all gifts for Christmas 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom, her parents, and sister, Nancy Gedert.

She is survived by her siblings, Linda (Mark) Schramm, whom she lived with in her final months, bob (Kathy) Gedert, Mike Gedert, Donna Gedert; her stepchildren: Allison Dawson, Adam Winkleman and Adrienne Collins; 7 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and countless friends.

Her family will have a memorial gathering September 29, 2023 at 11:00am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 4703 N Summit St, Toledo, OH 43611.
