James Dean Roney

 James Roney, age 81, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

James was born on April 24, 1940, in Hillsdale, Michigan. He was one of two children born from the union of the late Richard and V.Irene (Knowels) Roney. The family moved to Monroe in 1948, and it was here that James would make his home and raise his two daughters. He made his living working for Tecumseh Products before retiring in 2002.

James was a member of the VFW post 1138, the FOP post 1113, the Eagles, the Moose lodge, and the Foreign Legion. He was a very social and outgoing person with a personality all his own. In his spare time, James liked to travel up north to his property in Glennie, MI with his best friend Bill Jennings. He and Bill enjoyed golfing up there however, you would never find them on a course near home.

James loved his family and cherished his time spent with them. He will be missed by many.

To cherish his memory, James leaves two daughters: Wendy and Lynn Roney, two grandchildren: Jim and Eli Jacobs; a great grandchild, and his four-legged grand baby, Lady.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Richard D. Roney.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 until 7 pm. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 7 pm. Chaplain James Phul will officiate.
