James C. Brown Sr.
June 28, 1939 – June 8, 2024
James C. Brown, age 84, passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, June 8, 2024.
Born June 28, 1939 in Detroit, he was one of seven children born from the union of the late Leo and Louise (Sharman) Brown. James left high school and joined the United States Army where he served honorably during the Vietnam War. In 1960, James married Patricia M. Ballard and together they raised three children. James and Patricia spent over 59 years together.
James supported his family working for Coca Cola for 40 years and after retirement, he worked at the Country Market in Brooklyn.
James was a compulsive jokester and loved a good prank. In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing, singing, coin and stamp collecting and Nascar. James loved history and he especially enjoyed his trips to Washington DC and Tennessee.
James cherished his family. He and Patricia took great pride in one another and were always a good example of what love, loyalty, and devotion should be. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him
Beloved father of Angela (Wayne) Manor and Cheryl (Mark) Dehner, and grandfather of Tiffany Adams, Alyssa Jewell, and Lucas Manor.
James is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Patricia; a son, James C. Brown Jr.; and six siblings: Doris Hoover, Virginia Bell, Gloria Garza, Leo Brown Jr., David Brown and Barbara Palazzola.
Family and friends may visit on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home from 2 until 7 pm. A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11 am with Rev. Larry Detruf officiating. James will be laid to rest immediately following at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
