Imogene E. Svendsen
February 12, 1933 – September 5, 2021
Imogene E. Svendsen, age 88 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Medilodge of Monroe.
Born February 12, 1933 in Monroe. She was one of six children of the late Edger and Julia (Bittler) Woolum. Imogene attended Monroe High School.
Imogene married her first husband: Walter Haddox. They had a family of two children and spent over 30 years together before his passing in 1986. She later remarried Gordon Svendsen. Together they enjoyed traveling and sight seeing with one another. They used to be snow birds, and went to Florida during the winter. They were happily together for 20 years before Gordon passed away in 2017.
In her younger years, Imogene was a great cook and baker. She was known for her homemade noodles and apple pie. She enjoyed creating afghans for everyone in her family. More then anything, she looked forward to spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren. Imogene will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.
Beloved mother of David Haddox and Annette (Steve) Johnson. Step mother of Mary Bowers. Loving grandmother of Steven Johnson Jr., Chad (Amanda) Johnson, Christopher (Emily) Johnson, Jeremy Haddox, Brian Haddox, and Daniel (Angie) Haddox. Dearest great grandmother of Rylee, Taylor, McKinna, Braxton, Logan, Bryson, and Lucinda. Dear sister of Emilee (Wayne) Westerhouse.
In addition to her parents, Imogene is preceded in death by husbands: Walter Haddox and Gordon Svendsen, and siblings: Norman Woolum, Georgia Sizemore, John Ritterbach, and Bobby Woolum.
Everyone is invited to a visitation on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 starting at 1:00 pm at Rupp Funeral Home. Officiating is Pastor Andrea Johnson. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
