Helen M. Regelin, age 99, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023.

Born September 17, 1924, in Monroe, she was the daughter of the late Mandy and Susan (Nemeth) Pipis. Helen attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and went on to further her education at Monroe Community College. On April 14, 1945, Helen married the love of her life, Edmund Regelin and together they raised four children. Sadly, on August 25, 1999, after 54 years of marriage, Edmund passed.

Helen earned her living first, working at Woodall Industries (a real-life Rosie the Riveter), from 1943 until 1945. She also worked for Jefferson Public Schools as a Cafeteria Cook and a Secretary. Helen belonged to Monroe Rod and Gun Club, the Monroe Moose Lodge, D.A.V. Auxiliary Adutant, the Monroe Thrift Shop, the Eagles Auxiliary and was a charter member of St. Annes’ Mothers Club and former President.

Helen liked to travel. She and her husband traveled with their friends, Bill, and Harriett Macki. They drove out west to the western states and Canada. They toured Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island and Novia Scotia. Helen also enjoyed going on the Frenchtown Charter Bus trips. While still working, she accompanied the Jefferson School’s French Club to France, and accompanied her granddaughter to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.

To cherish her memory, Helen leaves three children: David (Linda) Regelin, Mark (Marcia) Regelin and Jeanann Regelin, grand children: Chuck Bauer (Bill Huele), Margo (Brad) Manor, Jennifer (Jeff) West, Amanda (Andy) Osborne, Amy (Wayne) Bitto, Laura (Marc) Winkelman, Lisa (Joe) Hammond, Rick (Raquel) Regelin, Pam (Eric) Nash, Vickie Regelin and Alyssa Regelin (Bill); twenty-eight great grandchildren and ten great- great grandchildren.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Edmund, a son, Richard Regelin; a granddaughter, Debbie Regelin; and her siblings, Julius, and Steve Pipis, Rose Quell, Margaret Pichard and Mary Pipis.

Family and friends may gather on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Rupp Funeral Home from 3 until 7 pm. A funeral service will take place at Rupp on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11 am with Fr. Henry Rebello officiating. Helen will be laid to rest at Pleasantview Cemetery in Petersberg, MI.
