Helen Irene Kinkead, age 88, passed away on August 8, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born on December 21, 1933 in Gate City, VA. She was the third of seven born from the union of the late Robert and Rosa (Culbertson) Lark.

She married Lonnie Carl Kinkead Jr. and they shared 66 years of marriage until Lonnie’s passing on February 25, 2018.

Helen attended Midway School in Midway, VA and moved to Michigan with her husband Lonnie to make a home and raise their three children. She took pride in making a home for her family and tending to her garden and flowerbeds.

Helen’s passing is preceded by her brothers William (Bill) Lark, Lester Lark, Sherill Lark, and Calvert Lark.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughters Phyllis Kinkead and Cathy (Mark) Zimmerman, and son Danny Scott (Mary Jo) Kinkead; her grandsons: Lonnie (Kathy) Bray and Ryan (Kristen) Bray; her granddaughters: Erin (John) Gurganus, Nicole (Mitchell) McLaughlin, and Danielle Kinkead; great grandsons: Lonnie Bray, John Gurganus, and Bradley Montague; great granddaughters: Elizabeth Bray, Victoria Bray, Brooklyn Bray, and Addison Bray; great great grandson Lonnie Michael Bray; brother Ralph (Gertrude) Lark, Gate City, VA; sister Alma Hartsock, Surgoinsville, TN; sister-in-law Eula Fletcher, Church Hill, TN; brother-in-law Gerald (Judy) Kinkead, Maryland; and nephews and nieces.

Friends may gather on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Rupp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10:30 am. Rev. Larry Detruf will officiate. A burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
