May 14, 1955 – July 5, 2026

Gregory Alan Cronenwett, age 71 of Erie, passed away unexpectedly, the evening of Sunday, July 5, 2026.

Born May 14, 1955 in Monroe. Greg was one of three children of Donna (Simonelly) and the late Stanley Cronenwett. Greg graduated from Monroe High School in 1973. He continued his education at Monroe Community College and at Western Michigan University. Greg proudly played in both high school and college baseball teams, where he was a star athlete.

Greg made a living, working for Ford Motor Company at the Monroe Stamping Plant. He had many titles throughout the years but lastly worked in the metallurgical department. Greg spent over 30 plus years of dedicated service before retiring.

Greg enjoyed all sports, but mainly baseball. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers. In his free time, he liked to play a round of golf. Greg had a wonderful sense of humor and loved listening to his favorite artist, Elvis.

Greg became a loving caretaker to his parents over the years. He took pride in making sure each was taken care of and their needs were met. Greg absolutely loved spending quality time with his family. He will be greatly missed and cherished in the hearts of his loved ones.

To cherish his memory, Greg leaves his mother, Donna Cronenwett; siblings, Gary (Nancy) Cronenwett and Brenda (Doug) Cellier; nieces and nephews, Elyse (Jeff) Bairley, Lia (Ben) Borchers, Emily (Justin) Zeller, Adam Cellier, and Eric (Ali) Cellier; great nieces and nephews, Jackie & Ava Bairley, Lauren, Brooklyn, Madison, & Katelyn Borchers, Alexis, Abigail, & Jessica Zeller, and Charlie Cellier. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Stanley as well as grandparents, Earl & Kathryn Cronenwett and Don & Nell Simonelly.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Greg are suggested to the Monroe County Humane Society, for his love of animals.
