Gerald F. Wahl
February 25, 1948 – April 14, 2025
Gerald “Jerry” Frederick Wahl, age 77 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025, at the Brookdale Senior Living.
Born February 25, 1948, in Monroe. He was the son of the late Frank and Estella Pauline (Smith) Wahl. Jerry graduated from Monroe High School in 1966.
After school, Jerry was drafted during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. He was stationed in Berlin, Germany from 1968 until being honorably discharged in 1970. After returning home, he continued his education at Eastern Michigan University. He received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Jerry met and married the love of his life: Marilyn Sefcik in 1978 at St. Michael Catholic Church of Monroe. They raised a family of two sons. Together they enjoyed travelling, especially to places like Europe. Marilyn was his pride and joy. They spent over 39 wonderful years together before she sadly passed in 2017.
Jerry made a living, working as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Monroe. He had served almost 30 years of service, retiring in 2006. Jerry was a lifetime member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid collector of both guns and knives. In his free time, Jerry loved going either duck or pheasant hunting with his two bird dogs: Molly and Ivy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Beloved father of Ronald (Lola) Calandra and Marc (Jennifer) Calandra. Loving grandfather of Alex (Dani) Calandra, Ian (Allie) Calandra, Emily (Darryus) Vaughn, and Ben Calandra. Great grandfather of Paige, Ty, and Malachi. Dear brother of Mary Mills and Marcia Fix.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by wife: Marilyn Wahl; and brothers-in-law: Bob Mills and Dick Fix.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of service starting at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, where an Honor Guard Service will be held under the Auspice of the VFW Post 1138.
