Gerald L. Menzel

Gerald Lee Menzel, 84 of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the Park Terrace Nursing Home in Toledo.
Born September 29, 1937, in Monroe. He was one of two sons of the late Harry and Evelyn Menzel. Gerald graduated from Monroe High School in 1955.
After high school, Gerald first worked at Monroe Rubber and Stamping. He then went to work at La-Z-Boy corporation till the old building closed. He retired from the IHM Sisters, as a maintenance man in 2000.
Gerald met and married the love of his life: Donna Menzel on June 9, 1962, at the Trinity Lutheran Church. They raised a family of three children and spent over 46 wonderful years together before Donna’s passing in 2008.
Gerald was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe. He participated in the Lutheran Brail Workers, who helped make braille bibles. Gerald was also a member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club and would go with his brother. In his free time, he liked to meet up with old friends at Monroe Diner every week for many years. Gerald was also a big University of Michigan Football fan.
Beloved father of Debra (James) Rose, Mark (Debbie) Menzel and Michael (Linda) Menzel. Loving grandfather of Jamie Rose, Jeremy (Rachel) Rose, Matthew Rose, Danielle (Cody Amolsch) Ausbrooks, Samantha Ramey, Michael Menzel Jr., and Alyssa (Dakota Campbell) Menzel. Dearest great grandfather of Leah Rose, Ireese Vinson, Santino Rose, Natalie Maurer, Mackenzie Rose, Presley Rose, David Reynolds, Desirae Courser, Allie Courser, Ashton Russeau, Dakota Campbell Jr., Addison Campbell, and Kaitlyn Amolsch. Dear brother of Robert (Janice) Menzel.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by wife: Donna Menzel.
Everyone is invited to a funeral service on Monday, May 16, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Monroe. Gerald will lie instate at 10 am with the funeral service starting at 11 am. Officiating is Pastor of the church: Daniel Potts. Burial will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park.
