Georgia Siffer Obituary

Georgia F. Siffer

November 8, 1946 – November 8, 2022

Georgia Faye Siffer, age 76 of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the ProMedica Regional Hospital of Monroe.

Born November 8, 1946, in the holler of Middlesboro, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Aslee Thacker. Georgia was raised by her grandmother, Sarah Parker. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1965.

Georgia was the Co-owner with her late husband John Imo, of Imo’s Food Market from 1980 to 1993. Afterwards, she was the Monroe County Magistrate, retiring in 2007. In between work, she also spent her time on the Monroe Public School Board for many years as well as volunteered at her home church, Oaks of Righteousness and other organizations.

Georgia met and married the love of her life: Jack Siffer. They spent over 20 wonderful years together up until his passing in 2021.

In her younger years, Georgia played on the first women’s softball team in Monroe County, The Royals, which qualified for nationals and she enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas or any casino!  More recently, you could find her watching her favorites like Law & Order SVU, any sports or cheering on her grandkids team! She was always particular with her hair and always went to her appointment twice a week faithfully. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Georgia will be deeply missed and cherished in the hearts of her loved ones.

Beloved mother of Bill (Marcy) Moore and John (Jane) Imo. Loving grandmother or otherwise known as Jojo of Chance Moore, Samantha Cope, Brian Reynolds, Catherine Imo, Evan Imo, Kaylee Imo, Gabrielle Siffer, Garrett Siffer, Justin Steffy, Chris Steffy, Ashley Welker, Derek Hoskins, and Natalie Bellman. Great Jojo to numerous great grandchildren. Dear sister of Carol (Dickie) Riggs, Thomas (Cheryl) Thacker, Lee (Daisy) Kitts, Cheryl McLaughlin, and Jeff Kitts. Also surviving are Jack’s children: Tony and Marty Siffer.

In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Siffer; siblings: Ann McKart, Dennis Thacker, Donnie, Kathy and Ricky Kitts, daughter-in-law Lisa Steffy and her grandmother: Sarah Parker.
