Jenny was part of a family of eight in which three of the girls married a Bourbina (from the same family) and one of the boy’s also married a Bourbina girl, so it was a very close-knit family. Jenny grew up in Monroe and was very fond of her life there. For Jenny there was no place like Monroe. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church into her late 80’s, she was part of the Woman’s Altar Society and spent many an hour cleaning the church attending church events and volunteering for funerals, soup lunches, the county fair etc. She also volunteered at Mercy Memorial Hospital for 22 years working in the Gift Shop and transporting patients. She loved school and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and was very proud of being Salutatorian of her class.

She had three grandchildren: Rachel Rosenthal of Greensboro NC, whom she raised; Jennifer Shannon of Raleigh NC and Mark Bourbina of Durham NC. She had seven great-grandchildren.
