Gavin Maximus Hill

Gavin Maximus Hill, age 22 of Britton, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly in his home on June 22, 2024.

Born November 7, 2001, in Dearborn, Michigan, he is the son of Brent and Sherri (Lindsay) Hill. Gavin attended Dundee High School, graduating from Riverside Academy with the class of 2019.

From birth, Gavin was intrigued by going fast and anything with wheels. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and dirt bikes, especially his Kawasaki KX-250, Kadence, that he modified himself. His love for speed carried over into his professional life, working as a mechanic for Over the Top Automotive for several years. Gavin was an accomplished goalie, playing hockey most of his life. He played all over southeast Michigan, including Chelsea, Canton, Plymouth and Adrian. Gavin also played Lacrosse for many years. Gavin enjoyed the outdoors, especially his night fishing trips to the River Raisin with his mother. He was known by his friends and family as the go-to-guy for anything that needed to be fixed, often teaching his cousins along the way. He will forever be remembered as a gentle giant and for his witty, humorous responses.

To cherish his memory, Gavin leaves his parents, Brent and Sherri Hill of Britton; his brother and best friend, Graigory (Dayonna Evans) Hills of Monroe; grandparents, Anita Akers, Michael and Cheryl Hill, and Kelly Smelcer; one aunt, Katherine (Robert) Church; five uncles: Matthew (Tonya) Lindsay, Jeremy (Maria) Lindsay, Brad Hill, Ryan (Amanda) Hill, and Collin Smelcer; ten cousins: Kylie, Isabella, Elliana, Alexander, Lucas, Alysa, Nora, Isaiah, Kimberlee, and Chloe; and one nephew on the way.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Mark Akers and grandmother, Valerie Smelcer

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161, where services celebrating his life will begin at 6 p.m. Rev. Larry Detruf will officiate.
