Garth Michael Richard, age 72 of Monroe, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, March 20, 2023, at his home under hospice care.

Born August 25, 1950, in Traverse City. He was the son of the late Ellsworth and Donna (Pelky) Richard. Garth graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, Ohio in 1968.

Garth met and married the love of his life: Linette Baldwin on January 22, 1976, in Traverse City. They raised a family of three children and spent over 47 wonderful years together. Both enjoyed spending time together and vacationing in Michigan’s upper peninsula. 

Garth made his living as a meat cutter in the Toledo area for 20 years before working at Coca-Cola Company as a Distribution Manager for 20 years before retiring. Garth was always a sports fan, and he was even the first bat boy for the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Team. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and University of Michigan football enthusiast. Garth also enjoyed coaching football at the Monroe Junior High School.

In his younger years, he used to bowl on local bowling league and loved to golf. He also was an artist who deeply enjoyed painting. In his free time, you could find Garth fishing, watching a good game, or spending quality time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.

Beloved husband of Linette Richard. Loving father of Shane (Kelly) Richard and Nichole Lewis. Dearest papa of Tyler Jennings, Jordan Jennings, Brayden Richard, Tanek Bagrowski, Fenix Bagrowski, Zaylee Richard, and Aurora Lewis. Great grandfather of Roland Jennings. Dear brother of Orville Richard, Pam Albarado, and Sherry Lampton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Garth was preceded in death by daughter: Stephanie Richard; and brother: Mark Richard.

Everyone is invited to a visitation on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Rupp Funeral Home from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. A funeral service will conclude viewing starting at 5 pm. In accordance with his wishes, cremation will conclude services.

Anyone wishing to attend the viewing and service is encouraged to wear U of M, maze and blue clothing in honor of Garth.
