Frederick A. Butler
March 20, 1951-June 16, 2022
Frederick A. Butler, age 71 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday June 16, 2022 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Fred was born March 20, 1951 in Monroe, MI to the late Leo and Iris (Friar) Butler. He served proudly in the United State Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded a Purple Heart for his bravery in becoming a combat wounded veteran. Fred would continue to serve his country in the Army National Guard for over 20 years. Fred attended Spring Arbor University where he earned his BA in Science. He would then start a long and prosperous career at the Ford Motor Company, retiring from Quality Control.
Fred would meet and eventually marry the love of his life, Amal Haddad, on April 21, 1975. The two would go on to spend 47 loving years together, building a home and raising a family. Fred belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church in Monroe and was also a member of the local Freemasonry. In his spare time, Fred loved to practice his hobbies, woodwork and photography. He made his grandchildren loving pieces of art with his own two hands.
To cherish his memory, Fred leaves his loving wife, Amal; son, Andrew (Sally) Butler; daughter, Amanda (Michael) Hassan; three grandchildren: Anton, Frederick, and Mira; and sister, Susan Gates.
Along with his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his two brothers, Leo “Dusty” and David Butler.
Family and friends may visit from 1pm-7pm on Monday June 20, 2022 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a Masonic Service will be held at 6pm. Fred will lie in-state at 10am on Tuesday June 21, 2022 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, where a Mass will be held at 11am. Father Kishore Babu Battu, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe. Military honors will be conducted under the auspice of VFW Post 1138.
