Franklin Wolfe Obituary

Franklin Wolfe

July 3, 1936-August 9, 2022

Franklin Wolfe, age 86 of Monroe, passed away the afternoon of Tuesday August 9, 2022 at Ebeid Hospice.

Franklin was born July 3, 1936 in Toledo, OH to F. Franklin and Margaret (Legeza) Wolfe. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After being discharged from the United States Air Force, Franklin spent a short time as a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy. He then pursued a career at Ford Motor Company where he would retire after dedicating 32 years to the company as a millwright. During his time at Ford, Franklin also joined the National Guard, reporting for duty one weekend a month and two weeks a year for fourteen years. Despite his will and determination to continue serving his country, Franklin’s age wouldn’t allow it. He retired from the National Guard at the age of 56, but still found a way to continue his Military service by volunteering at the Armed Forces recruiting office here in Monroe. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #30 and AMVETS Post #1942. Franklin used the experience and knowledge he gained through earning the rank of Master Sgt. to educate and guide prospective candidates and active soldiers on their journey.

Franklin would go on to meet and marry the love of his life, Anna Kinkead, on June 19, 1976. Sadly, Anna passed away January 18, 2015. They spent many years together traveling and enjoying one another’s company. Franklin was always thinking of others. His weekly routine was to deliver snacks, whether it be pizza, donuts, or candy, to the cemetery staff, beauty shop, township hall, or bank. He never wanted anything in return, he just like bringing a little positivity to someone’s day. It was his hope that people would continue to spread the kindness and pay it forward.

Franklin has touched numerous lives, to many to list in fact. He leaves behind many friends, including: David and Jennifer Toeppe, along with their four children, Raeleigh, Trace, Sadie, and Rhett, who affectionately referred to him as “Grandpa”, Joyce Day, and Jackie Foster; many nieces and nephews, including Sandra (Dale) Coyner, and Kimberly (Dr. Michael) Ribera; brother in law, Jerald (Judy) Kinkead; and numerous other friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome from 10am-1pm on Monday August 15, 2022 at Rupp Funeral Home, where a celebration of Franklin’s life will be held at 1pm. Pastor Roy Southerland will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle with a military honor service under the auspice of Monroe VFW Post 1138.

Along with his wife and parents, Franklin is preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Bacom and Mary Anne Wolfe.
