Frank J. Nagy
May 16, 1945 – October 25, 2021
Frank John Nagy, age 76 of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, October 25, 2021.
Born May 16, 1945, in Monroe. He was one of six children of the late Frank and Anne (Giljum) Nagy. Frank graduated from St. Mary Catholic Central in 1963. In high school, Frank used to be a golf caddy at the Monroe County Country Club. He continued his education at Ferris State College, where he received his associates in Drafting. Frank then finished at University of Toledo to earn his bachelor’s degree in urban planning.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was a Vietnam Veteran. Frank made his living working at the Monroe County Planning Commission as Assistant County Planner for 35 years before retiring.
In his free time, Frank kept active and like to play recreational sports like bowling, golf, volleyball, and soft ball. He was an avid fisherman as well. Frank was also a crossword master and even did them in pen. He enjoyed travelling all over to places like Alaska, out west and to Canada. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Beloved brother of Dale (Kathy) Nagy, Carolyn (Dennis) Gacioch, Dan (Patty Zibell) Nagy, Beth Anne (Ehren) Paul, and Bill (Jan) Nagy. Loving uncle of 12 nieces and nephews, and six great nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by his parents.
Everyone is invited to a visitation at Rupp Funeral Home on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. A recitation of the rosary will be said on Thursday at 7:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, November 5, 2021. Frank will lie instate at 10 am with the funeral mass starting at 11 am. Officiating is Fr. Giancarlo Ghezzi. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with an honor guard service held by the VFW post 1138.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Frank are suggested to the Frank Nagy UT Scholarship for Veterans or St. Mary Catholic Central Alumni.
